Conservative Leaders Endorse Ken Blackwell for RNC Chair

Today, I am truly humbled.

An unprecedented group of conservative leaders united behind my candidacy this morning and announced their endorsement of my campaign for Chairman of the Republican National Committee.  I will let the release speak for itself but these are some of the finest leaders in the conservative movement and I am honored to have their support.

Please take a moment to read the important release below.  Together, we can lead a conservative resurgence across this country and bring our party back.

CONSERVATIVE LEADERS ENDORSE
KEN BLACKWELL FOR RNC CHAIR

A broad cross-section of American conservative economic, social and foreign policy leaders has endorsed the candidacy of former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell for chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

The election will be at an RNC meeting in D.C. January 28-31.

A meeting of conservative leaders, gathered by the Council for National Policy on November 13, asked Virginia Republican National Committeeman Morton Blackwell (no relation to Ken Blackwell) to prepare and distribute a list of questions for the RNC chairmanship candidates.

All six active candidates, Saul Anuzis of Michigan, Ken Blackwell of Ohio, Katon Dawson of South Carolina, Mike Duncan of Kentucky, John “Chip” Saltsman of Tennessee, and Michael Steele of Maryland, answered the questions.  The 37 questions and the six candidates’ answers are posted on the website Townhall.com.

After a review on January 2 of the candidates’ answers and a discussion of their other qualifications, the conservative leaders listed below announced their support of Ken Blackwell and urged the 168 members of the RNC to elect him at their late-January meeting.

Their organizational affiliations are provided for identification only.

The conservative endorsers noted that there were other good candidates, but all agreed that Ken Blackwell is the best choice.  They intend to contact grassroots conservatives across the country and ask them to urge the three RNC members from each state and U.S. territory to vote for Ken Blackwell for RNC chairman.

Wow, this is exactly the sort of solid conservative support I expect from the next RNC chair. Ken Blackwell is the sort of leader the GOP needs at this crucial moment in the nation’s history.

  6. Mike Lane says:

I supported Ken Blackwell for Governor of Ohio, and in fact I felt like Ohio Republicans made a mistake by not being squarely behind him at an earlier stage in his political career. He should have been supported for Governor in earlier years. We ended up with Democrats in Republican clothes in Ohio. I think this is the next logical step for Ken Blackwell now. Republicans across the nation need someone like Ken. And, the nation needs for Ohio to be “recharged” (recognize that?)… and while Ken will be a great help to the RNC, his Ohio influence will also help Ohio get back on track, which in turn helps the nation.

I could go on and on… but just know that I support Ken Blackwell.

  7. William says:

    Mr. Blackwell
This is most impressive endorsement. I look forward to hearing more from you.
Although I support one of your competitors I’d like to hear you make the rounds on conservative talk radio. Go on Hannity,Laura Ingraham and the Bill Bennett Show.
You have a very impressive resume Mr. Blacwell.

No more David Frum and David Brooks “Democrat Lite”. This last election was the final straw for me. I hope you as RNC chairman will be the type of conservative leader that mirrors Conference Chairman Mike Pence.

Do us proud Mr. Blackwell. Do us proud.

  8. Robert Nolin says:

    Broad conservative support. Very strong.

  9. Steve says:

Good list and good luck. I like the comment opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants. I hope this includes opposition to so-called “comprehensive immigration reform” which we all know means mass amnesty.

  10. Chas Jones says:

As a lifelong Ohioan (53 years) voting since 1976 I have long followed Ken’s career voting for him each time he has placed his name in nomination for elective office. It is my great hope each of these candidates would make numerous appearances during the next 2 weeks on political news & commentary venues on FoxNews, Lou Dobbs, etc., and talk radio across our nation. Let the folks hear from them all then making our voices known to our state delegates.

That said, Ken has my support without hesitation nor reservation.

  11. Diane says:

America and the Republican Party are in serious trouble because too many RNC Chairmen and elected Republicans are or have been RINOs (Republicans In Name Only). In 2008, conservatives once again showed that they will not support the lesser of two evils.

If the Republican Party is ever to make a comeback and have any relevance in the next four years, it must have a Chairman who is a genuine conservative. The Republican Party must be once again the party of Ronald Reagan and a vigorous champion of the Judeo-Christian principles upon which our nation was founded and cultural and economic conservatism.

No more RINOs!! I support Ken Blackwell for RNC Chairman.

  12. Stella Diffenderfer says:

Sounds really great. I definitely am for Ken Blackwell for RNC Chairman.
