Coca-Cola Halts Aggressive Diversity Plan After Chief Attorney Calls It Quits

So it seems that Coca-Cola is maybe, finally, starting to grasp the idea that the vast majority of Americans in this country hate all of the “woke” bull that is being shoved down their throats by the leftist morons in the entertainment industry and the political realm.

It seems the soft drink company has put a hold on its ridiculous diversity plan, which included handing out penalties for outside firms if they did not meet racial diversity quotas, after they received some severe backlash.

The pause itself comes hot on the heels of plan orchestrator Bradley Gayton — the company’s former general counsel — abruptly resigned from his post last month after serving in the position for less than a year and as criticisms for the quotas began to mount.

Some questioned whether Gayton’s policies violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which says employers can’t treat people differently based on their race.

Scott Leith, a spokesman for Coke, said Gayton’s replacement, Monica Howard Douglas, is now reviewing the plan.

“When there is a leadership change, it takes time for the new leader to review the current status of the team, organization and initiatives,” he stated. “Monica is fully committed to the notions of equity and diversity in the legal profession, and we fully expect she will take the time necessary to thoughtfully review any plans going forward.”

In January, Gayton made headlines when he unveiled his plans to penalize outside law firms that failed to meet new diversity quotas by slashing their fees or cutting ties with them altogether.

Under the plan, any law firm seeking to do business with the company was required to commit that at least 30 percent of billed time would be from “diverse attorneys,” and at least half of that time would be from black attorneys.

“The hard truth is that our profession is not treating the issue of diversity and inclusion as a business imperative,” Gayton wrote back in January as he revealed the plan. “We have a crisis on our hands and we need to commit ourselves to specific actions that will accelerate the diversity of the legal profession.”

The resignation of Gayton has thrown the plan into doubt with all of the folks outside the company slamming it and urging Coca-Cola to reverse course.

In a meeting with Coke’s global legal team, Douglas, the company’s new general counsel, said that Coca-Cola was “taking a pause for now” but would likely salvage some parts of the diversity plan, Law.com reported.

I really don’t think it would be wise to try and “salvage” any of this nightmare policy. Just let it go. Hire folks who are the best fit for the job, regardless of their skin color. If a black man is the best person to do a certain job, then hire him. If it’s a white guy, hire him.

This diversity quota garbage is pure nonsense and is a form of racism, the very thing Coca-Cola thinks they are fighting.
