The Florida State Legislature, which is led by the GOP, approved a bill that places a ban on transgender athletes who identify as female from competing against girls and women. If you listen closely you can hear the angry screams and cries of liberals everywhere.
The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act officially passed on Wednesday. It was a last-second amendment included on a bill that dealt with charter schools in the state.
Teams designated for males, men, or boys may be open to females, but teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls may not be open to students who are males, the bill stated.
It also allows a student who is deprived of an athletic opportunity or suffers any direct or indirect harm as a result of a violation of the bill to sue his or her school for damages.advertisement — content continues below
The Florida Legislature is also debating two other bills, SB 2012, and HB 1475, both dealing with transgender athletes. However, it appears both of those pieces of legislation have stalled ahead of the session’s end, which is this Friday.
