A piece from the Washington Post regarding President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nomination process made the claim that Justice Clarence Thomas’s previous rulings “often resemble the thinking of white conservatives.”
Now if that isn’t a racist remark, what is?
Funny how liberal publications don’t seem to be aware of their own hypocrisy when it comes to comments made like this.
The article in question focused heavily on the role that House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn is playing when it comes to recommending a SCOTUS justice to succeed the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer, who seems to be homing in on J. Michelle Childs, a black female judge from the state of South Carolina who is a major contender for President Joe Biden’s nomination.
Here are some quotes from the WP piece that includes a statement from Congressional Black Caucus member Bennie Thompson.
“‘Nobody that I’m aware of feels that opposing Clyburn’s nomination would be the wise thing to do,’ he said. ‘If you know that a person has been vetted by Jim Clyburn, you know that person won’t go to the court and end up being a Clarence Thomas,’ referring to the Black justice whose rulings often resemble the thinking of White conservatives,” the article went on to say.
The Washington Post report was rebuked by conservative and libertarian-leaning media outlets, including the National Reviewand Reason, which highlighted examples of left-wing bias against the black justice who was nominated by former President George H. W. Bush in 1991.
This is journalism? Reporters @CleveWootson and @MariannaReports snidely identify Clarence Thomas — in a news story — as "the Black justice whose rulings often resemble the thinking of White conservatives." Why don't they just call him an Uncle Tom?https://t.co/5yvzO6Fv3c pic.twitter.com/8psN128xJk

Jeff Jacoby, a conservative op-ed writer for the Boston Globe, tweeted that Washington Post reporters Cleve Wootson Jr. and Marianna Sotomayor “snidely identified” Thomas in the report, asking, “Why don’t they just call him an Uncle Tom?”
The Washington Examiner contacted the Wootson but did not receive a response.
Racism is totally acceptable as long as you are a Democrat fighting to ensure the party retains its political power. This line of thinking can also be seen in the way leftists insult minority communities when they fight against voter ID laws, by assuming blacks and other groups will not be able to figure out how to go about getting an identification card to cast their ballot.
And yet they get a free pass.
